Service Writer
Responsible for acting as a liaison between the customer and the service technicians after establishing the issues with each vehicle by performing the following duties.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Acts as a customer liaison by answering incoming calls, greeting customers, and processing customer payments and paperwork.
- Gathers accurate information and relays to the appropriate employees in regards to car diagnosis and repairs to be done on the vehicles.
- Creates and completes accurate work orders with proper documentation, pricing, authorization, and signatures.
- Manages all shop procedures, workflow, complaints, and incoming cash flow.
- Operates the POS system, processes of end of day requirements, credit card batching, deposits, and manages the cash drawer.
- Manages parts and labor to ensure profitability as per our standard matric pricing guidelines.
- Reports all issues to manager in a timely manner and assists in resolving.
- Keeps waiting room and office area clean and free of debris as well as stocked with refreshments.
- Notates all customer interactions and calls in addition to ensuring updated contact.
- Assists store manager in all daily operations.
- Ensures BAR required guidelines and nomenclature.
- Performs housekeeping items such as cleaning and inventory of office supplies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Service Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, accounting software, internet software, order processing systems, data base software, and contact management systems.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid CA driver's license
